Whale Shark Encounter

Each year, whale sharks come to La Paz Bay to feed in its nutrient-rich waters. Despite their impressive size, these gentle giants feed mainly on plankton and small organisms, filtering them as they swim slowly near the surface. We set out by boat to look for individuals in the protected area. Once an animal is located, guests enter the water in a small group, respecting the distances and rules designed to reduce our effect on its behavior. Swimming briefly alongside a whale shark reveals its sheer size, graceful movement, feeding behavior and the unique pattern covering its skin. Throughout the experience, your guide explains the species’ biology, migrations and the reasons La Paz Bay is an important seasonal habitat.
