La Ventana Wildlife Sea Safari

Between the peninsula and Cerralvo Island, the seabed drops steeply toward the depths of the Gulf of California. Submarine canyons, currents and upwellings of nutrient-rich deep water support an extraordinary concentration of marine life, making this channel an important passage and feeding area for many species.

There is no fixed route and no guaranteed species here: we set out to discover what the ocean reveals on the day.

Aboard a local panga, we spend five to six hours scanning the horizon. A breath, a fin, a splash or the movement of birds may lead us to dolphins, whales, rays, turtles or other visitors from the open sea.

Depending on the encounters, the animals’ behavior and the conditions, we take time to watch and listen. We enter the water only when regulations allow it. Your guide helps interpret the behavior and interactions we observe and explains this remarkable ecosystem and the challenges of conserving it.

The day ends with a simple lunch of local flavors, on the beach or aboard the boat, depending on the rhythm of our ocean adventure.
